DETROIT, MI -- Trevor Bauer was nearly perfect in today's Father's Day showdown between the Indians and Tigers. The tribe righty proved to be fully back after struggling to find his way the previous month. Bauer showed great command throughout his entire start, allowing zero walks and striking out eight Tigers, allowing four hits. Today marked Trevor Bauer's first professional complete game shutout in a 8-0 blowout in Detroit.
The Indians got on the board early in the game thanks to back-to-back two-out doubles by Santana and Kipnis. Lindor roped a double to right field in the third inning to wake the tribe bats back up, before being driven home by an Oscar Mercado single. Jason Kipnis continued his clutch hitting with a two-out two-run blast to put the tribe ahead 4-0 in the third. Trevor Bauer was not the only Indian to have a career day today as Oscar Mercado drove in a career-high 4 RBI's.
After taking all three games this weekend in Detroit, the Indians have now won eight of their last eleven games as they continue their push to catch the Twins. Cleveland moves to 105 games back of the Minnesota Twins in the American League Central. The tribe will travel to Texas to take on the Rangers in a four-game road series. Mike Clevinger will make his return from the Injured List as he will square off against Rangers right hander Lance Lynn in the first game of the four-game series. First pitch on Monday evening is set for 8:05 PM ET at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas.
