CLEVELAND--If Max Kepler didn't play, Trevor Bauer had a really great game. But Kepler's three homers count as the Twins avoid the sweep against the Indians 5-4.
Bauer (4-6) has not won a start since late April after Corey Kluber's injury. Kepler was hitless in his last 21 at-bats before tonight and was one homer shy of a rare four homer game which has only been done 19 other times in MLB history.
Twins were up 5-1 for the second night in a row thanks to the strong start by Jose Berrios (8-2). For the second straight night, the Indians attempted to comeback into the game. Tyler Naquin had a RBI Single in the seventh along with a Roberto Perez sac fly in the seventh to bring home Jordan Luplow. Then in the eighth, Oscar Mercado hit a homer to make the game 5-4.
However, the luck ran out when Francisco Lindor's bomb was fouled off to right and was grounded out in the eighth.
While the Indians took two of three, the Twins are still 10 1/2 games ahead of Cleveland for first place in the AL Central.
Indians will begin a three game home series against the New York Yankees. RHP Zach Plesac (0-1, 1.46) will be tested in his third career start.
