Mariners Avoid Sweep, Pounce on Tribe 10-0

CLEVELAND, OH -- Th Seattle Mariners came out of the gate firing on all cylinders, as they jumped on Indians starter Cody Anderson for four runs. Anderson was only able to record two outs before being taken out of the game. The Mariners were not phased by the tribe bullpen, pouring on six more runs in the next four innings. Today marked the Seattle Mariners first team shutout on the season, as their starter Erik Swanson carried a no-hitter through 5 innings, giving up 0 earned runs in 6.0 innings in the Mariners 10-0 victory.

Jay Bruce blasted a grand-slam home run off of Cody Anderson in the 1st inning, helping the Mariners snap a six-game losing streak. The Seattle lineup gave Erik Swanson room to breathe right away in today's game, and Swanson did the rest. The 25 year old right hander earned his first win of the season, moving him to 1-3 on the year. Cody Anderson was given his first loss of the season on his first start of the season.

The Cleveland Indians will open up a four-game series against the Chicago White Sox to finish off the homestand. Trevor Bauer will look to bounce back from his last performance as he will get the ball for the tribe, the Pale Hose will look to Ivan Nova for the start. First pitch is set for 6:10 PM ET at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio.
