CLEVELAND, OH -- The Toronto Blue Jays did not have an answer for tribe pitcher Mike Clevinger, who seemed to be unstoppable until being taken out due to upper back tightness after going 5 strong innings. Clevinger struck out 10 Blue Jays and allowed only one hit to lead the Cleveland Indians over the Toronto Blue Jays, as the tribe complete the 4-game sweep.

On Clevinger's second pitch of the fifth inning, he began to feel his back tighten up, but continued to work as he breezed through the inning, striking out two batters and forcing out a groundout. Following the inning, Clevinger mentioned his back tightness as he entered the dugout. Clevinger attempted to persuade tribe pitching coach Carl Willis and the team's medical staff to let him continue to pitch, but the Indians coaching staff played it safe and brought out Neil Ramirez to pitch the sixth inning. When asked about being pulled, Clevinger responded "They made the right call, it's not worth it right now, this early, it's just being safe. Clevinger has now pitched 12 scoreless innings over his first two starts of the season, striking out 22 batters.

Carlos Santana, who has been red hot out of the gates, got the tribe on the board early in the first inning on a double to left, scoring Jake Bauers. Tyler Naquin followed up the Santana double with an RBI single that dropped into shallow left field, scoring Carlos Santana. Jose Ramirez put the tribe up 3-0 in the fifth inning on an RBI single to right center. Toronto's only run came on an RBI single off of the bat of Toronto catcher Danny Jansen.

The Cleveland Indians will look to stay hot as they will begin a three game series in Detroit on Tuesday, April 9th. Cleveland Indians' ace Corey Kluber will be set to take the mound, while the Detroit Tigers will give the ball to Jordan Zimmerman. First pitch is set for 1:10 PM ET at Comerica Ballpark in Detroit, Michigan.
