Indians regulars plated seven runs over the first two frames, scoring four in the 1st inning on RBI singles by CARLOS SANTANA and YU CHANG and a two-run triple off the bat of TRAYCE THOMPSON. The Indians plated three more in the 2nd inning, a solo homer from LEONYS MARTIN and a 2-run shot by SANTANA, who is now hitting .385 with 7 RBI this spring. JASON KIPNIS went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles and runs scored in his second game of the spring and first since Feb. 24.
SAM HENTGES was sharp of his 2.0-inning start as TYLER CLIPPARD, NICK GOODY and CODY ANDERSON all enjoyed scoreless spring debuts. JON EDWARDS and OLIVER PÉREZ also tossed scoreless outings. KC plated eight in the 6th and five in the 9th off BROOKS POUNDERS, RC ORLAN and ASHER WOJCIECHOWSKI. KYLE ZIMMER, Bradley’s older brother, pitched a pair of scoreless innings for KC to record the win.
The Indians will travel to Peoria, AZ tomorrow to take on San Diego Padres at 1:05 PM MT/3:05 PM ET. RHP SHANE BIEBER makes his second start of the spring against LHP JOEY LUCCHESI for the Friars. The game will be televised on SportsTIme Ohio.
