Cleveland dropped a high-scoring affair 10-7 against Arizona on Thursday afternoon at Salt River Fields in a contest that saw four different lead changes. The Tribe jumped out to a 3-run lead in the top of the 1st only to see the Diamondbacks answer with five runs in the bottom of the frame. The Indians retook the lead 7-5 with a 3-run home run from INF JOSE RAMIREZ in the 4th but Tribe pitchers allowed five additional runs in the final 4.0 innings.
OF GREG ALLEN continued his hot spring, reaching base in all three of his plate appearances (2-for-2, 2B, 2R, HBP). On the spring, Allen is hitting .500 (5-for-10) with a home run, double and 3 runs scored. Ramirez (2-for-3, HR, 4RBI, 2R) and C KEVIN PLAWECKI (2-for-3, 2 2B, RBI R) also turned in multi-hit games, with Ramirez contributing his first home run of the spring.
RHP CHIH-WEI HU got his second start of the spring, allowing four hits and five runs (earned) in 0.1 inning of work (1SO). LHP OLIVER PEREZ, RHP JON EDWARDS (2SO), RHP BROOKS POUNDERS (3SO) and RHP JEAN CARLOS MEJIA (1SO) all worked a scoreless frame.
The Tribe return home to Goodyear Ballpark on Friday to face Los Angeles-NL in their first night game of the spring (6:05 PM MT/8:05 PM ET). RHP A.J. COLE will make the start against RHP ROSS STRIPLING. The game will be televised on SportsTime Ohio and can be heard on WTAM 1100.
