A fourth Democratic member of Congress has tested positive for after last week's Capitol lockdown — the fifth total case in a surge that has followed the events of Jan. 6th.

Rep. Adriano Espaillat (D-NY) announced Thursday morning that he was quarantining after a positive Coronavirus test. Similar announcements were made in the past week by Reps. Bonnie Watson Coleman of New Jersey, Pramila Jayapal of Washington, and Rep. Brad Schneider of Illinois, all Democrats.

GOP Congressman. Chuck Fleischmann of Tennessee also tested positive for the virus over the weekend, but the statement from his office said that he believes he was exposed by contact with another member of Congress he shares living quarters with, not at the Capitol Building.

House physician Dr. Brian Monahan warned on Sunday of the danger to “many” members of Congress and staffers who “may have been exposed” to COVID-19 when they took shelter — in some cases huddled together in windowless rooms for several hours — during the Jan. 6 riot and occupation of the Capitol.

Also, some members are still dealing with the psychological effects of being in the crosshairs of an angry mob.
