MIAMI, FL--- The Cavs get their 3rd win in a row and survive a 4th quarter comeback attempt from the Heat in Miami 104-100 Wednesday night. These 2 teams coming in, were #1 and #2 in the NBA in opponents points per game, Cleveland being the first allowing 106.6 ppg, and Miami being 2nd allowing 109.1 ppg.
The Cavs and Heat put on a playoff like performance Wednesday night, with a back and forth 2nd quarter and a tight 4th quarter. We would see Donovan Mitchell end the first half on a buzzer-beating jump shot to help the Cavs take a 57-51 lead into the 2nd half, where the playoff atmosphere really kicked in.
Isaac Okoro would start the 2nd half off hot with 2 3 pointers, his 2nd 3 pointer would extend the Cavs lead to 10 at 65-55. Okoro would finish the game with 13 points. In the 3rd quarter, we would see Donovan Mitchell break the Cavaliers single season record for 3 pointers made by a player previously held by JR Smith in 2016 making 204. Mitchell would finish the game with 18 points, 4 assists and 4 rebounds. Darius Garland stepped up in the 2nd half, scoring 25 points, this being the 29th game this season of him scoring 20+ points in a game. We would also see a very clutch bucket late from Garland and another from Okoro with 49 seconds to go after the Heat scored 7 straight points with 3 minutes left in the game. Garland would finish with 25 points and 7 assists, joined by Lamar Stevens with the same stat line. The Cavs defense held on strong, and performed when they needed to to get a big time win against another Eastern Conference playoff team. Another clutch performance would come from Jarrett Allen getting his 29th double double on the season with 15 points and 12 rebounds, he would also make some clutch free throws towards the end of the game.
