The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Washington Wizards, 92-86, to end their three-game losing streak, and extend their eight-game home winning-streak.
The Cavs trailed for most of the game, but down 84-75 they ended the game by outscoring the Wizards 17-2. Defensively, the Cavs held the Wizards to four points in the final six minutes, and outscored them 26-16 in the fourth quarter. In the paint, the Cavs dominated with 44 points to the Wizards' 32, and made 20 of 24 free throw attempts compared to the Wizards' five of six. The Cavs committed just 10 fouls to the Wizards' 24.
Jarrett Allen collected his 31st double-double of the season with 18 points and 14 rebounds, and scored eight straight points in the fourth quarter. Evan Mobley also recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Starter Lauri Markkanen led all Cavs with 23 points, while Cedi Osman led all bench players with 19 points. Brandon Goodwin started at guard and played a game-high 38 minutes with injuries to Darius Garland, Rajon Rondo, Caris LeVert and Collin Sexton.
The Cavs improve to 36-24 and are in fourth place in the Eastern Conference - 3.5 games back of the first-place Miami Heat. The Cavs will continue their homestand on Monday at 7:00 PM against the Minnesota Timberwolves (32-29). The Cavs won the first meeting in Minnesota, 123-110, in December.
