Spam is officially leaving the can behind with the launch of the Spam Dog, a hot dog-style version of the iconic salty meat designed for roller grills, stadiums, restaurants, and convenience stores.
Fans will be able to grab the new item at select ballparks and stores this summer, topping it with everything from classic mustard and chili cheese to Hawaiian-inspired flavors like kimchi and pineapple-jalapeño salsa.
Social media reactions ranged from die-hard excitement to cautious curiosity, while a few loyal traditional hot dog fans remained skeptical.
After nearly 90 years as a pantry staple sold in 44 countries, Spam is now aiming to become the next big thing at the concession stand, too.
