A young Formula One fan is getting the chance to attend a major race thanks to a viral social media post that gained global attention. After making a deal with his dad to attend his first F1 race, six-year-old Ilan Gomez from Florida posted a video on TikTok asking for 10-thousand likes and a comment from a driver. His dad agreed to take him to a race if he met those conditions, but the video quickly surpassed 4-million likes, and several F1 drivers responded, helping amplify the post and draw widespread support.
The viral moment reached organizers of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, who invited Ilan and his family to attend the event scheduled for November. The boy says he’s excited about the experience, while his father says he’s proud of his son and surprised by how far the post traveled.
Ilan says he’s thankful for the drivers who engaged with his video and helped make the experience possible. The invitation will allow him to attend his first Formula One race, fulfilling the goal he set in his post.
