Mickey Mantle Card Dethrones Honus Wagner As Most Expensive

The auction isn’t even over yet, and Mickey Mantle is set to dethrone Honus Wagner as the most expensive card ever sold. Last week, a two-grade T-206 Honus Wagner card went for $7.25-million, which set the record.

Now, with just over two weeks left in the auction, the “Rosen Find” Mickey Mantle card from 1952 has surpassed that figure, at $7.4-million (with the “buyer’s premium” factored in, which cover the costs of running the auction house).

This particular Mantle card is also known as the “four perfect corners” card and is consider the “finest example” of the card in existence.
