The end of the Baker Mayfield era in Cleveland has officially come. The Cleveland Browns, today, peddled Mayfield to the Carolina Panthers for a conditional fifth-round draft choice in the 2024 draft.
The Browns were able to complete the deal after reportedly agreeing to pay $10.5 million of Baker's $15 million dollar salary this upcoming season with Mayfield shaving $3.5 million off the season salary which stood at nearly $19 million dollars.
The move affords the Browns $8 million in cap space. Mayfield was taken by the Browns with the first overall pick of the 2018 draft.
During his time in Cleveland, he threw for 14,195 yards, 92 touchdowns and 56 interceptions. Mayfield also rushed for 5 scores while the Browns field general.
