Dentist Says Four Minutes Of Kissing Is As Good As Brushing Your Teeth

Last week, we told you that a dentist says that cavities are contagious, and now an orthodontist is saying that four minutes of kissing is as good as brushing your teeth. Dr. Khaled Kasem recommended kissing for at least that long every day because it “produces more saliva in your mouth.”

"The main benefit of kissing is that it produces more saliva in your mouth,' Dr. Kasem explains. "Saliva is important because it helps you chew, taste, swallow, fights germs in your mouth and prevents bad breath — which is definitely ideal when kissing.'

Along with neutralizing acids that sit on your teeth, it cuts down on tooth decay. No one to smooch? Dr. Kasem says chewing sugar-free gum can also increase saliva production.
