A Cleveland judge facing charges of judicial misconduct says her mistakes were caused by a generalized anxiety disorder brought on by menopause and sleep apnea.
Last week, attorneys for Cleveland Municipal Court Judge Pinkey Susan Carr argued before the Ohio Supreme Court that the case isn't about the misconduct committed but rather why it was committed.
Officials say between 2017 and 2020, Judge Carr issued arrest warrants for defendants who didn't appear in court during the pandemic, dismissed cases for those who did appear, joked about accepting bribes, and lied about her behavior.
The Ohio Board of Professional Conduct has recommended a two-year suspension of Carr's law license.
