Harvest For Hunger 2022 Kicks-Off At Greater Cleveland Food Bank

The annual 'Harvest For Hunger' campaign got underway this morning at the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. The campaign, which runs through May 31, is one of the largest community-run food drives in the country covering 21 counties.

The need for food donations throughout the region is even greater this year due to a number of reasons including job loss, rising inflation and other factors. Typically, for every dollar donated to the effort, four nutritious meals could be provided for those in need.

This year, the dollar is stretched a bit thinner, as every dollar raised will provide only three meals to those in need. Karen Pozna, with the Greater Cleveland Food Bank,, says they are looking to raise $9.5 million for this year's effort.

As part of today's kick-off, WTAM 1100's own 'Bloomdaddy' took part in the 'Su[ermarket Challenge,' a grocery bagging competition among members of the Cleveland media and other dignitaries. Sadly, 'Bloomdaddy' did not win the competition although there were no losers during the event.
