(Willoughby) 19-year-old Jamarion Hill of Warren is facing several charges for trying to drive off with a Willoughby Hills Fire ambulance Sunday morning. The ambulance was left sitting outside the UH-LakeWest Hospital emergency room.
On surveillance video footage Hill can be seen walking around the vehicle before climbing in on the passenger side. After a few seconds, EMS personnel come running out to try to stop the theft. Paramedic Brian Paladino jumps onto the driver's side door and hangs on as Hill tries to make his getaway. The ambulance crashed into the sidewall of the helipad. Paladino and others held Hill down until police arrived. Paladino suffered minor injuries.
Hill was arraigned Monday on charges of robbery, auto theft, disruption of public service, and misconduct at an emergency vehicle. His bond was set at $50,000.
