(Akron) Police in Akron continue to piece together events that led to a mass shooting on the city's east side that took one life and injured 24 others. The shooting happened shortly after midnight early Sunday morning in the area of Kelly and Eighth Avenue. Police say they had been out there earlier Saturday night to break up a massive party of more than 200 people. But, after police left the scene many of those who were there returned.
Police say they have recovered evidence that indicates the shooting was a drive-by, and people at the party returned gunfire. The person who was killed has been identified as 27-year-old Lateris Cook of Akron. Police say they have recovered a couple of guns along with shell casings from the scene.
A reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of those responsible has grown to $22,500. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Akron Police Department's Detective Bureau at 330-375-2490.
