Drivers across Ohio are being warned that penalties begin Thursday for distracted driving.

The distracted driving law took effect earlier this year, but drivers were given a six-month grace period to start paying attention to the law.

Under the law, drivers can be fined and even have their license suspended if they are distracted in a variety of ways such as reading a book, eating, doing makeup, or holding their cell phone while driving.
