Mayfield Heights Police Looking for Man Accused of Offering Children a Ride

CLEVELAND - At approximately 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, two Lander Elementary students say while walking home from school, they were approached by a white man who asked them if he could give them a ride while putting his hand on one of the kid's shoulders. The kids said, No, and the male returned to his car and left the area.

The students ran home and told their parents about the incident. The family immediately contacted Mayfield Heights Police and Lander Elementary administration to report the incident.

Police responded to the student's home to begin the investigation.

The incident happened on Bellingham Road and Ascot Road, the area shown in the map below.

The vehicle in question is a Dark Grey SUV, possibly a Nissan.

The School Resource Officer was present outside of the school at dismissal. Mayfield Heights Police will continue to pay special attention to the area during morning and afternoon dismissal times.
