In a rural area of northern Florida, 61-year-old Pamela Jane Rock, a postal worker, was killed after being mauled by five dogs, over the weekend after her vehicle broke down, according to sheriff's officials.
According to witnesses who spoke to the Sheriff's Office, residents heard a woman yell for help and ran outside to find Rock on the ground being attacked by five dogs. The owners of the dogs and a number of nearby residents ran to lift the dogs off the woman.
The dogs had returned to their owner's property by the time deputies arrived. According to the sheriff's office, the mail carrier was heavily bleeding and lying on the ground.
The canines were taken into custody by animal control workers and will be put down humanely, according to the sheriff's office.
