Russia Claims Ukraine Bombed Its Own Maternity Hospital

The Russian Defense Ministry is denying it had anything to do with Wednesday’s bombing of a Ukrainian maternity hospital -- and is instead blaming it on Ukraine.

Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov says Ukraine bombed its own hospital in an effort to turn global opinion against Russia, calling the incident a “staged provocation to incite anti-Russian agitation in the West.”

The bombing, which Ukraine says happened during a Russian air strike, killed three people and injured 17 others.
