Treasure Island Casino Pays Slot Jackpot Malfuction $229k To Arizona Man

An Arizona man who thought he lost when he played a slot machine in Las Vegas has been awarded $229,000 after the Nevada Gaming Control Board determined the machine had malfunctioned.

Robert Taylor had no idea he should have won the jackpot when he played a slot machine at Treasure Island Hotel and Casino because a mechanical error "prevented Mr. Taylor and casino personnel from realizing that a progressive jackpot had been won," reads a statement released by the gaming board.

A surprised Taylor received his winnings after investigators spent "countless hours over two weeks to ensure that a patron is awarded winnings owed to him," per the gaming board. Officials say they determined Taylor's identity by watching surveillance video, reviewing ride-share records and interviewing witnesses.
