CHICAGO, IL -- The Indians and White Sox had the benches clear after James Karinchak lost grip of a fastball that hit Jose Abreu in the ear hole. Following the hit by pitch, White Sox manager Tony LaRussa came storming out of the dugout, needing to be held back from Cleveland catcher Roberto Perez. After being medically cleared, Karinchak approached Abreu and gave him a hug, as Abreu continued down the first base line. After taking a 2-run lead in the 8th inning, Chicago closer Liam Hendricks stepped in and shut the door on the tribe to lock in a 6-4 win for the ChiSox.

Cleveland slugger Franmil Reyes had a good start to the weekend series, driving in 3 runs including a solo homer. Tribe third baseman Jose Ramirez was the only other Indian to drive in a run, ripping an RBI single to right field to tie the game up in the 5th inning.

The tribe and White Sox will clash on Saturday evening for game two of the 3-game set. First pitch is set for 7:10 pm ET at Guarenteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois.
