Zoo Receives Largest Cash Gift In Its History

(Cleveland) - The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and the Cleveland Zoological Society are announcing a gift of $3 million from the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Supporting Foundation. The gift, the largest in the zoo's history, will go toward renovation of the zoo's administration building, and the addition of the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Auditorium.

The auditorium will serve as a meeting space, as well as a hub for eduation and conservation-based programming (see photo below). The gift is the second one for the Foundation, the first being used to build the Jack, Joseph, and Morton Mandel Welcome Pavilion in 2017.

The zoo's administration building was dedicated in 1964. The zoo says the renovation will update staff office areas, add additional rental space, and create a new guest services hub.
