CLEVELAND, OH -- The Cleveland Indians were scuffling at the plate having had 14 consecutive scoreless innings, and were in desperate need for a spark. Jose Ramirez stepped into the box down by one with two outs and a guy on first, and sent a pitch just foul of the right field pole, missing the go-ahead slam by a few feet. On the very next pitch, Ramirez launched a 2-run slam to right center to put the tribe ahead by a run. Jose Ramirez stepped back to the plate in a tie game in the 8th inning, before pulling a low inside pitch over the right field fence to take a 4-2 lead. Nick Wittgren shut the door and earned his 5th career save in a 4-2 Indians victory over the Royals.

Cleveland ace Shane Bieber had yet another stellar performance on Wednesday afternoon. The reigning Cy Young winner gave up two earned runs in three hits in 6 and 1/3rd innings, striking out twleve batters while walking four. Tribe flamethrower Emmanuel Clase earned his first win of the season, tossing one full inning while giving up no hits and striking out two.

The tribe move to a 2-3 record on the season and will take Thursday off before hosting the Detroit Tigers for a three-game series. First pitch on Friday is set for 7:10 pm ET at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio. Cleveland will send out Zach Plesac to face off against right hander Julio Teheran.
