(Columbus) - Your federal income taxes aren't due until May 17th, but you're not getting the same break with your state taxes.
The Ohio Department of Taxation is reminding us that the state's deadline to file income tax returns remains on April 15th. The Internal Revenue Service recently announced that due to issues related to the pandemic, the deadline for filing with the IRS will be May 17th,
Since federal taxes must be filed before state taxes in Ohio due to carrying over the adjusted gross income from the federal form, that means you need to complete your federal tax form by April 15th anyway.
