Bay Village Police Blotter: Fraud from the Badger State

07/08/2020, 15:22 hours, a Rye Gate resident came to the station to report receiving an e-mail from Best Buy confirming a $204.09 purchase. The item, a Ring Spotlight home security camera, had been shipped to an address in Wisconsin. Information was taken for a report.

07/10/2020, an Akron resident called to report the theft of a bicycle. He had been visiting overnight at a home on Huntmere Drive. His Acura had been parked in the driveway, with the vehicle’s rear facing the street. On the back of his vehicle was his bike rack, with his $200.00 Fuji bicycle and a smaller child’s bicycle mounted on the rack. When he woke at 05:30 hours this morning he noticed the smaller bike lying on the ground and the Fuji missing. There were no locks or cables on the bicycles.

07/12/2020, 00:32 hours, an officer stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation on Dover Center Road, near East Oviatt Road. Upon initial contact with the occupants, the officer detected the odor of raw marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle. A subsequent search of the interior of the vehicle was conducted. Marijuana, drug paraphernalia items and pills were found. The 18-year old Avon resident was cited for possession of marijuana. The drug paraphernalia was confiscated and the unknown pills were sent to a lab for further testing.
