After questioning her love of America two nights ago, Fox News host Tucker Carlson double downed on his criticism of Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), chastising the double-amputee combat veteran as a “coward,” “fraud” and “moron.".

On the Monday night edition of his show, "Tucker Carlson Tonight," the Fox News personality called Duckworth “a deeply silly and unimpressive person” who “[hates] America,” taking issue with comments she made about having a “national dialogue” pertaining to monuments of Presidents George Washington and Thomas Jefferson amid the protests following the killing of George Floyd.

Duckworth responded on Twitter that Carlson should “walk a mile in my legs and then tell me whether or not I love America.” (In 2004, Duckworth lost both her legs when a Blackhawk helicopter she was co-piloting was shot down in Iraq.)

But, on Tuesday night, Carlson ratcheted up his criticism of the senator even further. “What a coward,” he said. “Tammy Duckworth is also a fraud.”

While Carlson is no stranger to taking heat for controversial opinions, the reaction to his latest remarks has been particularly swift.

The backlash against Carlson’s comments comes at a time of record ratings for him, even as his show has lost a few large advertisers. In the second quarter of 2020, Carlson’s show attracted an average of 4.3 million viewers per night, according to Nielsen Media Research data, a cable news record.
