Hotel Occupancy Rates Are Up, But Fewer Hotels Are Open

(Cleveland) - Hotel occupancy is up in Greater Cleveland, but it's not necessarialy because more people are staying at hotels.

A lot of hotels shut down because of the pandemic, and other hotels have picked up guests who may have stayed at the closed hotels.

The executive diredtor of the Ohio Hotel and Lodging Association told The Plain Dealer that "we can't say that things are trending up," and the numbers are a "false positive."

Across Ohio, 30% of hotels have closed. Hotels in Greater Cleveland that have closed include the Westin Cleveland Downtown, the Marriott Cleveland Downtown at Key Tower, Intercontinental Suites Cleveland, and Embassy Suites Rockside.
