Michael Cohen Transferred To Solitary Confinement

Michael Cohen, former personal attorney to President Donald Trump, exits federal court

President Donald Trump's former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, was put into solitary confinement at Otisville Federal Correctional Institution in Otisville, New York. Cohen's lawyer told Reuters that his client was transferred to the disciplinary wing of the minimum security prison after he got into a verbal dispute with another inmate.

"It is my understanding that a verbal dispute over phone use prompted a temporary placement to SHU pending an investigation. I do not however know who prompted the altercation, or if the action taken was factually/ regulatory appropriate," Cohen's lawyer, Roger Adler, said in an email to the news organization.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons refused to comment, citing their policy against discussing individual inmates.

Cohen was sentenced to three years in federal prison for violating campaign finance laws and will be eligible for release in November 2021.
