Indians Spring Training Notes 3-7-20

-Mercado needs 48 to 72 hours to let the sprained wrist calm down. Then will gradually get him back into work and see how he feels.

-How did Bieber find out he was the opening day starter? Tito had to text him and tell him that Tito had already told reporters that he would be the guy on Opening Day.

-Carrasco has mild elbow inflammations. Tito says its more maintenance than anything else and Cookie should be ok in a day or two.

-The tribe fell to the Cubs on Saturday 8-5.

-SS FRANCISCO LINDOR (1-for-3, HR, RBI, R) did not waste a pitch to get the Indians on the board, depositing the first pitch the Tribe saw on the afternoon over the right field wall for his third home run of the spring. Lindor has recorded a hit in all 9 games he has appeared in, hitting .407 (11-for-27) over that stretch. 3B JOSÉ RAMÍREZ (1-for-3, HR, 2RBI, R) extended the Cleveland lead to 3-0 with a 2-run home run off the right field pavilion roof in the 6th – his second home run of Cactus League action.

-RHP ADAM PLUTKO (3.0IP, 2BB, 2SO) continued a string of strong starts for the Indians, working 3.0 hitless innings in his third start of Cactus League play. Over the last five games, Tribe starters have spun a 1.80 ERA (3ER/15.0IP). Plutko was immediately followed by scoreless appearances from RHP JAMES HOYT (1.0IP, 1H, 1SO), RHP ADAM CIMBER (1.0IP, BB, 2SO) and RHP PHIL MATON (1.0IP, 1H, 1SO).

-The Indians will hit the road on Sunday afternoon to take on the Colorado Rockies at Salt River Fields. first pitch is scheduled for 1:10PM AZ/4:10PM ET. Northeast Ohioans can hear Indians RHP JEFRY RODRIGUEZ (0-2, 16.62) face Rockies LHP Kyle Freeland (0-0, 4.50) on ALT 99.1 and the Indians Radio Network.
