Akron - Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh has announced that a Summit County jury found 47-year-old Daniel Lee Jones, of Burton Street in Akron, guilty of killing 44-year-old Kerri Blondheim in September of 2018.

Jurors found Jones guilty of the following charges:

  • Two Counts of Murder – special felonies
  • Felonious Assault – a felony of the 2nd degree
  • Two Counts of Tampering with Evidence – felonies of the 3rd degree
  • Gross Abuse of a Corpse – a felony of the 5th degree

On September 23rd, 2018, Jones got into an argument with Blondheim at Jones’ Akron apartment. Jones then strangled Blondheim, breaking every bone in her throat. To cover up the crime, Jones dumped Blondheim’s body in a wooded area on Van Buren Road near the New Franklin-Barberton border, where he covered her body with a mattress and set both on fire.

Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Tammy O’Brien is scheduled to sentence Jones on Tuesday February 25, 2020 at 2pm.
