Westlake Police Blotter: Landscaping Bandit

On 10/18/19 at approx. 6AM WPD received a call about a theft from a Sperry Dr business.The landscaping business owner reported that he was missing a trailer loaded with landscaping equipment.Surveillance shows a white male operating a blue and white truck pull onto the property just after 3AM.The male hooks up the trailer and leaves with same.Investigators are evaluating evidence recovered at the scene.An estimate on the loss is also being compiled.

On 10/18/19 at approx. 2:45AM WPD received a report of a car alarm sounding on Framingham Dr.Officers did not find anyone in the area but 4 unlocked vehicles in driveways had been entered and ransacked.The owners were contacted but nothing was reported missing.There are no suspects at this time.

On 10/14/19 at about 11:30AM an officer stopped a vehicle on I90 at Crocker Rd.Several windows in the vehicle were missing and the registered owner had active warrants.The driver was identified as the 19yo from Cleveland who owned the car.Not only did he have a warrant from North Olmsted, he had a suspended driver’s license.The female in the front passenger seat said that she did not know her social security number but gave a name and date of birth.Investigation revealed that she was lying.When her identity was finally confirmed, officers learned that she had an active arrest warrant as well.Because there was a baby in the back seat of the vehicle, officers waited for the driver’s mother to arrive on scene to take custody.The driver was charged with driving under suspension and the warrant.The female passenger was arrested for misidentification.

On 10/13/19 at approx. 1AM, an officer stopped a vehicle on Center Ridge Rd at Dover for several traffic violations.The operator showed signs of intoxication but denied drinking.The 26yo female North Olmsted resident was field tested and arrested for OVI.At the Westlake Jail she tested over 2 and ½ times the legal limit.

On 10/11/19 at approx 1:30AM a concerned citizen called in a possible OVI or reckless driver on I90 at Columbia.Officers caught up with the Ford truck on Dover Center at the railroad tracks.It was alarming because the truck had some major damage including a smashed windshield and fender damage.The driver, a 28yo male Lakewood resident, had trouble explaining where he started driving and how he ended up on Dover.He exhibited signs of intoxication and was field tested.After his poor performance on the tests, the male was placed into custody for OVI.The male refused a breath test and was placed under an immediate license suspension.Although local police departments were alerted about the possible hit-skip, what the suspect struck is still unknown.
