Dayton Shooter’s Family Publishes Obituary That Upsets Victims

Mass Shooting in Dayton, Ohio

The family of the shooter who killed nine people, including his sister, outside of a bar in Dayton, Ohio published the obituaries for their two children, and many people were upset with what they wrote about their son. The obituary was posted online and made no mention of his horrific crimes or that he was responsible for killing his sister. It offered no apologies for his actions and ignored his troubled past.

The obituary paints a much different picture of the 24-year-old who was killed by police after he opened fire on a crowd of people outside of a bar in downtown Dayton. It starts off by describing him as "a funny, articulate and intelligent man with striking blue eyes and a kind smile." It mentions his love of music and singing, and that he enjoyed reading and playing video games.

While the obituary talks about his love of music, it makes no mention that he enjoyed listening to "porngrind" which is filled with violent and sexual lyrics or that he was the lead singer of an explicitly-named porngrind band.

The obituary talks fondly of his time in high school when he was a member of the marching band and went camping with his friends in the Boy Scouts. At the same time, the shooter was putting together a list of his fellow classmates who he wanted to rape or kill and fantasizing about "hunting" human beings in his journal.

Authorities have not determined a motive for the massacre but believe that he may have cased the area before the attack. Officials say if it was not for the quick actions of the police officers, hundreds of people could have died in the mass shooting.
