Rocky River Police Blotter: Disorderly Conduct, Giant Eagle Theft & More

  • On 06/18/2019 at about 3:30 PM a Laurel Ave. resident called police after a neighbor accused her and hers on of video recording her a few days earlier. Police went to speak with the neighbor and found her in the driveway of her home, stumbling and nearly falling over, disheveled clothing, and smelling strongly of alcohol. The woman was home alone and intoxicated and unable to properly care for herself. 43-year-old Sarah Betts was arrested for disorderly conduct while intoxicated. 2019-01027 Incident & Booking are attached. 

  • On 06/18/2019 at about 3:50 PM a doctor's office on Center Ridge Rd. called police reporting a female refused to leave the office. Police discovered the patient, a 47-year-old North Olmsted woman, was unhappy with the doctor's services. The parties were advised of the civil nature of the dispute; no charges were filed. 

  • On 06/20/2019 at about 4:45 AM a tractor-trailer headed eastbound on Interstate 90 left the roadway and collided with guardrail at Detroit Rd., causing an oil leak and closing several lanes of the highway until about 8:00 AM. There were no injuries. 2019-01036 Incident is attached. 

  • On 06/20/2019 at about 8:55 PM a customer at Giant Eagle watched a man leave without paying for a cart full of grocery items. The customer confronted the suspected thief in the parking lot and, after a brief exchange, the suspect pushed the customer in an attempt to get away. Police located the suspect vehicle, a white Ford pick-up, but were unable to stop it. The suspect is described as an Hispanic male with a mustache, about 5' 7" tall, wearing a black ball cap and black and white camouflage jacket.

  • On 06/23/2019 at about 4:30 AM the clerk at Sunmart 20045 Lake Rd. called police to report a vehicle hit one of the gas pumps before leaving the store on Lake Rd. The vehicle was located on Detroit Rd. at Erie Rd. and, after field testing, the operator, 20-year-old Janelle Jelks from Rocky River, was arrested for drunk driving; a small amount of suspected marijuana and an open container of alcohol were found in the vehicle. 2019-01054 Incident and Booking is attached.

  • On 06/23/2019 at about 3:20 PM a caller reported a possible drunk driver on Interstate 90 westbound in a a black Hyundai. An officer saw the car as reported and operating between the berm and slow speed lane. The vehicle was stopped and, after a series of field sobriety tests, 22-year-old Megan Michaels from Parma, was arrested for drunk driving. A small amount of suspected marijuana was also found in the car. 2019-01057 Incident & Booking are attached.
