On 11/8/19 WPD took a report from a citizen who learned that a male had attempted to fraudulently cash one of his personal checks at a bank.The complainant believed that his cleaner/organizer, a female, had taken the check.Investigators followed up with the bank and using records and surveillance video identified the male who had attempted to pass the check.Interviews with him helped identify a 35yo male from Cleveland as the person who had possessed the fraudulent check.Further investigation revealed that the female cleaner, a 26yo from North Ridgeville, had possessed the check as well.Warrants were obtained for both suspects.Both were taken into custody this week.The female was arrested by the Lorain County Sheriffs Dept. on 3/23/19.She was charged with felony theft of checks. The male turned himself in on 3/26/19 and was also charged with felony theft.

On 3/23/19 just after 6 in the morning officers responded to St. John Medical Center for an assault in progress.A female patient had struck a nurse in the Emergency Department and had to be restrained by security.The nurse was not seriously injured.The case is being reviewed by the city prosecutor to determine charges.

On 3/24/19 at approx. 6:15PM a female called WPD to report that she had been assaulted during a road rage incident.Apparently she had to slam on her brakes on Detroit Rd to avoid hitting a vehicle exiting an apartment complex on the same road. After she honked at the other car, the other driver stopped in the middle of the street, exited his vehicle, and approached the female complainant’s car.It is disputed whether he attempted to throw a punch toward the female but there was no actual contact.The male left the area after yelling.Both parties were interviewed.The prosecutor will review the case to determine if menacing charges are warranted.

On 3/25/19 a female called to report that as she was leaving work at Crocker Park, she spotted her ex-boyfriend riding his bicycle in the area.The male followed the female for a short distance before riding away.There was already a no-contact order in place between the two resulting from a domestic violence incident that had occurred in Avon.Officers were able to locate the male, a 28yo from Avon, riding the bike in the area of Crocker and Center Ridge Rds.He was stopped and questioned.The male changed his story a couple of times as to why he was at Crocker Park.He was arrested for menacing by stalking and a protection order was requested.

On 3/28/19 at about 4:30pm an officer stopped a vehicle on Clemens Rd for a traffic violation.There was evidence of drug use all over the interior of the vehicle.Investigation revealed that the 18yo from North Olmsted had marijuana, methamphetamine, several loose pills and drug paraphernalia.The male was arrested and charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, along with misdemeanor marijuana and paraphernalia.

On 3/28/19 at approx. midnight, an officer stopped a vehicle on Columbia at Hilliard for an equipment violation.The driver said that he did not have his license on him.The officer noticed that there were 2 juveniles in the vehicle with the adult driver along with an open container of beer in the center console and an odor of marijuana in the car.The 47yo driver also showed signs of impairment.The driver was field tested and arrested for OVI.When he was finally identified it was learned that he also had a suspended license and was on probation.The 15yo in the vehicle was found to be an entered missing juvenile out of Akron.He was eventually transported to the Cuyahoga County Child and Family Services facility in Cleveland.The 13yo in the back seat was turned over to a parent who arrived on scene.The driver was charged with OVI, child endangering x2, driving under suspension and open container.
