Parma - As part of a network-wide infrastructure maintenance program, CSX will be conducting repairs on crossings in Parma that will include the Brookpark Road railroad crossing. As a result, Brookpark Road will be closed March 20 to March 25.
“Maintenance like this is critical to the safety of both train operations and roadway traffic. The work has been scheduled in close coordination with state and local roadway authorities and Parma officials to temporarily close roads as crews replace crossties and repave asphalt to provide a safe surface for drivers,” said a CSX spokesperson.
Repaving the crossing can take up to five days, barring severe weather or unexpected disruptions. CSX anticipates completing the repairs and reopening Brookpark Road by Monday morning, March 25. To minimize impacts to the traveling public, CSX has also coordinated needed signal maintenance work for this time period, which will eliminate closing this busy crossing again at a later date, according to CSX.
“We appreciate the public’s patience while we complete this work, which is critical to ensuring the safety of motorists using public, at-grade crossings and a safe, reliable freight rail network in the state of Ohio,” CSX said.
Detour routes will be posted and will re-route motorists via I-480. CSX said it will be communicating with businesses located near the crossing construction site in advance of the closure.
