Rocky River -

On 02/21/2019 at about 12:10 PM police responded to the Rocky River Civic Center 21016 Hilliard Blvd. after a complaint that a patron on the track was yelling at others and refusing to leave. The patron had left prior to officer arrival but was later contacted. The dispute was over the appropriate lane use for walking and running on the track. No one was injured and the report was referred to the recreation department.

On 02/23/2019 at about 4:15 PM police stopped a 2001 Toyota Corolla on Interstate 90 e/b because the license plates on the car belonged to a 1992 Honda and were expired for four years. The driver, 33-year-old Victor Mendoza from Cleveland, did not have a driver's license. He was cited for fictitious license plates and no driver's license; the Toyota was impounded.

On 02/23/2019 at about 8:45 PM police were on Interstate 90 east bound at Hilliard Blvd. looking for a vehicle that a caller reported to Westlake Police for operating recklessly, possibly by an intoxicated driver. Police saw a blue GMC Yukon in that area with only one headlight and operating between two marked lanes. The truck was stopped and the driver was eventually identified as thirty-seven-year-old Paris Sharpley from Taylor, Michigan.

Officers could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Sharpley and observed several indicators that he had been drinking. Sharpley refused several requests and then orders to exit the vehicle before being removed from the vehicle by officers. He was arrested for drunk driving, obstructing official business, marked lanes, open container in a motor vehicle, and lighted lights required. His vehicle was impounded.

On 02/24/2019 at about 2:20 AM police stopped a Scion hatchback on Detroit Rd. near Lakeview for speeding. The officer was able to smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the car and noticed indicators that the driver, identified as twenty-seven-year-old Alton Hairston from Chicago, was impaired.

Hairston refused to unroll the window more than about an inch and later refused to get out of the vehicle when instructed and it was explained why. Hairston was eventually arrested for obstructing official business, drunk driving, speeding, and possession of marijuana. His passengers, twenty-five year old Adrian lewis and twenty-three-year-old Ramsey DeJesus, both of Lorain, were also cited for possession of marijuana.
