Rocky River Police Blotter: Intoxicated Man Assaults Girlfriend

On 01/30/2019 at about 2:45 AM police were called to the Swinging Door bar 20130 Center Ridge Rd. after a report that a man assaulted his girlfriend. The man was last seen sitting in a car in the parking lot. When police arrived, the man was gone and the victim had been driven home. After a short search, the man was found in a Northview Rd. backyard and officers observed indications that he was intoxicated. The victim was interviewed at her home and declined to make a statement. James A. Cope, 37-years-old from North Royalton, was arrested for Disorderly Conduct While Intoxicated. 2019-00180 Incident & Booking are attached. 

On 02/02/2019 at about 5:20 PM police responded to Giant Eagle 22160 Center Ridge Rd. after receiving a report of an intoxicated man getting into a 2005 Chrysler and driving away on Center Ridge Rd. Police stopped the vehicle and noticed indicators that the driver had been drinking. After an investigation, Walter Cousino, 64-years-old from Fairview Park, was arrested for drunk driving. 2019-00200 Incident & Booking are attached. 

On 02/02/2019 at about 9:30 PM officers were sent to the parking lot at Giant Eagle 22160 Center Ridge Rd. after a caller reported an intoxicated man pulled into the lot, nearly striking another car, and went into the store. Officers found the car and noticed it was not parked properly within the marked lanes of the parking spot and the driver's door was left open. As they were talking with the complainant, the owner of the vehicle returned. While officers spoke with him, they noticed slurred speech and unsteady balance. He had a grocery bag containing beer. After an investigation, Kevin Platten, 63-years-old from Rocky River, was arrested for drunk driving. 2019-00202 Incident & Booking are attached.
