MONDAY 9-17-18

1.      The Browns took on the Saints down in Louisiana on Sunday.  What are your thoughts about the game?

2.      The Browns have had enough of Josh Gordon.  In  a statement released on Saturday night, Browns GM John Dorsey said, “For the past six years, the Browns have fully supported and invested in Josh, both personally and professionally and wanted the best for him, but unfortunately we’ve reached a point where we feel it’s best to part ways and move forward. We wish Josh well.”  Did the move surprise you after Gordon played so much in week 1?

3.      The Indians clinched their third straight Central Division championship and the team celebrated after their 15-0 win over the Tigers on Saturday night.   If the season ended today they would open up the playoff in Houston against the Astros but it’s also possible they could end up playing the A’s in Oakland.  Does it matter to you who they play first and does playing Jason Kipnis in center field concern you?

4.      Hurricane Florence drenched the Carolina's over the weekend trapping people in flooded homes.  Up to 40 inches of rain and storm surges pushed water inland and did not allow rivers to drain.   What are your thoughts on Florence days after she hit the mainland?

5.       How do think FEMA did responding to the situation?

6.      The Food and Drug Administration is threatening to pull e-cigarettes from shelves. The FDA is ordering the top E-Cig manufacturers to submit plans within 60 days detailing how the companies will prevent teens from using their products.  How can you keep teens  from smoking e-cigarettes?  Should they be illegal to sell?

7.      New Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper who purchased the NFL team for a record $2.275 billion this summer talked about players who kneel for the National Anthem and said, “it’s the biggest pile of bull-dingy ever to slam players who choose to protest during the national anthem.  These are some of the most patriotic people and best people. These are great young men. It just makes me so aggravated and angry”. Tepper went on to say that fans should shift their focus more on what players do in their communities instead.  Do you think public sentiment is shifting?

8.      Some employees of Google, including a senior researcher, have decided to walk away from the company after its decision to try to re-enter China. Google pulled out of the country eight years ago, but have been working on a censored search engine, code-named Dragonfly, to appease the Chinese government's demands. The government wanted Google to restrict sensitive information, such as human rights, peaceful protests, and democracy.  Would you give up a pay check if you did not agree with your company’s business decision?

9.   A school district in South Carolina is getting rid of “snow days” and is replacing them with eLearning Days.  When classrooms are closed because of the weather, teachers will send parents digital assignments their children will have to complete at home.  If for any reason students have a problem accessing the internet, they will still be required to complete the assignment within five days on their own time.   What you like to see eLearning days be implemented in Northeast Ohio schools?

10.   Hundreds of rare gold coins were discovered beneath an Italian theater.  They were discovered by construction crews at the previous site of a historic theater in northern Italy, which closed in the 1990s. The coins were found in what appears to be a soapstone vase or jar, believed to be from 474 B.C.  If you found them, would you have kept one?
