Bay Village Police Blotter: Tenant Moves Out, Takes Appliances

On 07/31/2018, at 1543 hours, an officer stopped a Honda Accord on Wolf Road, near Douglas, after running the license plate and seeing that the registered owner was currently under suspension. While speaking to the driver the officer noted her demeanor to be very lethargic and she was slurring her speech. The officer had her exit the vehicle in order to perform field sobriety tests. She failed and was arrested for OVI. Various non-prescription pills, found in the vehicle, were confiscated and will be sent for testing. The 26-year old Bay Village resident was processed before being released on personal bond to a sober friend.

On 08/01/2018, at 1423 hours, a gentleman who lives in North Carolina came to the station to make a report about a theft, which occurred at his rental property on Lincoln Road. Around the end of 2017, the tenant cease making complete monthly payments. The property owner’s attempts to speak to her were unsuccessful. In early spring of 2018, the landlord made entry to the house to find the tenant gone, as well as many of the appliances, which had been in the home when the tenant moved in. The landlord did a walkthrough of the premises and saw what he felt was unreasonable damage throughout the home. The property owner is still compiling an itemized list. The report was forwarded to the detective bureau.

On 08/04/2018, at 0326 hours, an officer was sitting south bound at a red traffic signal at the intersection of Columbia and Wolf Roads when he observed a Mazda, travelling east bound on Columbia, make a right hand turn onto Columbia. The vehicle was going too fast and crossed onto the double yellow centerline of the roadway. The officer stopped the Mazda and suspected the driver to be impaired. After failing sobriety tests, he was arrested for OVI. After processing at the police station the 22-year old male from Broadview Heights was released to a sober adult.
