ASHTABULA COUNTY- Police in Conneaut are investigating the death of a 1-year-old girl.
According to police, the girl was found unresponsive and suffering from cardiac arrest in her bedroom by her 22-year-old mother. Officers arrived at the home on Clark St. around 5:30 Saturday morning and found the mother holding the child and screaming, "Help my baby!"
Identified by family members as Serenity, the young girl later died at Conneaut Brown Memorial Hospital.
"Foul play" is suspected in the girl's death, although neither the Ashtabula County Coroner's Office or the Conneaut Police Department would specify.
Authorities say they've talked to both the mother and her 37-year-old boyfriend, but stressed no arrests have been made at this time.
