(Cleveland) - Police officers and children from all over the city got together to spend quality time on Lake Erie.
It was the 8th annual Kids and Cops event, with police officers fishing with youngsters downtown at Voinovich Park.
The event was from 11am to 2pm, with some of the children joining officers on boats for fishing, with others casting their lines from the pier.
There were plenty other outdoor activities, including a hot dog lunch to allow kids and cops to get to know each other.
Also greeting the kids and their families were officers from the SWAT and mounted units, the bike and motorcycle squads, along with Chief Calvin Williams, and Mayor Frank Jackson.
The Cleveland Police Foundation served up free hot dog lunches, and there was a bubblepalooza with Dr. U. R. Awesome performing.
The event is part of an effort to bring cops and the community closer together.
It was sponsored by the City of Cleveland, the Downtown Cleveland Alliance, Rock & Dock Marina, Cleveland Police Foundation, Shines Bait & Tackle, and the ODNR Division of Watercraft.
