Cleveland Division of Fire

(Cleveland) – A woman and her great-granddaughter both died Wednesday morning in a house fire on the west side.

The fire was reported about 2:30 a.m.  It was in the 3400 block of Granton Avenue,  between Rocky River Drive and Triskett Road in the West Park neighborhood.

The victims of the fire were 60-year-old Catherine Miller, and her great-granddaughter, Kihlee Richardson, who was eight.  They were both pronounced dead at Fairview Hospital.

Cleveland Fire Chief Angelo Calvillo told reporters at the scene there were smoke detectors in the house, but they were not working.

A cause for the fire has not yet been determined.
