Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez commented on Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong's controversial statements, including calls to abolish cops, prisons, and Thanksgiving.
Ocasio-Cortez mentioned that Hong had "moved away" from some of her previous stances, jokingly referring to a local NYC councilman's remark that "Woke 1 was crazy."
Ocasio-Cortez attributed the openness to extreme ideas during the Covid-19 lockdowns, stating that it led to fruitful discussions but acknowledged that the rhetoric used during that time may not be appropriate today.
Ocasio-Cortez revealed that she had also entertained the idea of abolishing prisons in 2019, indicating that she, too, got caught up in the discussions of extreme policies during that period.
Despite discussing Hong's positions, Ocasio-Cortez did not endorse her and stated that her focus was on winning back the Congress.
