A proposal to create a designated outdoor refreshment area in Playhouse Square is moving forward.
Cleveland City Council's safety committee approved the ordinance on Wednesday, allowing alcohol consumption in a designated area during certain large events.
Organizers estimate the expanded DORA could be used for 10 to 15 events each year, including the Cleveland International Film Festival and Tri-C JazzFest.
The proposal now heads to additional council committees for review.
