Apartment Building Explosion Injures 5 In City's Garden Valley Neighborhood

Crews from 22 fire companies responded late Monday afternoon to the scene of an explosion in Cleveland's Garden Valley neighborhood.

The blast occurred at a Rainbow Terrace Apartments building near East 70th Street and Garden Valley Avenue. Five people, including two children -- ages 10 and 11 -- were taken from the scene to a local hospital for care.

One person is reportedly listed in critical condition. There has been no word on the cause of the explosion, whose resulting fire spread to 44 units.

The Red Cross is stepping in to help those that have been displaced by the incident.
