Todd Blanche, a lawyer with no library or archive experience, has been appointed as the acting Librarian of Congress by President Trump.
Blanche previously served as one of Trump's personal lawyers and led the defense in a criminal trial involving the President.
The permanent post of Librarian of Congress requires Senate confirmation, but Blanche has been appointed as the acting Librarian.
The former Librarian of Congress, Carla Hayden, was fired by Trump, who accused her of promoting "wokeness."
The Library of Congress has not yet received direction from Congress on how to move forward with the new appointments.
