UMass Will Pay Student $10,000 For Shot - Even though Foot Was On Line

A UMass Amherst senior thought he won a $10,000 prize after hitting a half-court shot during a halftime challenge. The next day, however, Lee learned there was a problem: His left foot was on the line when he took the half-court shot, so he wouldn’t receive the prize money. On Friday, Lee said UMass Athletic Director Ryan Bamford called him to say the university would pay him $10,000 — even if the promotions company the school contracts with to run the contest wouldn’t. Lee said he hugged his roommate and let out a sigh of relief.
